How To Grow Your Business On Instagram

Updated: Aug 19, 2020

Love it or hate it, if your business isn’t on or utilising Instagram, then you’re missing a trick! With billions of active users a month, more and more users are using Instagram. Therefore, in today’s world, it is essential that your business is active on Instagram and making the most of the platform.

If you’re not sure where to start or how you can grow your business on Instagram, I’ve got some tips on how you can.

Share Good Quality Content

First of all, it is critical to be sharing good quality content. Nobody will want to engage or interact with content which isn’t good, this is especially important for Instagram, but why?

Instagram is an image sharing platform, so to ensure you’re in the best position to grow your business and encourage your audience to engage with you, produce the best content you can.

There are several templates online as well as plenty of tips and tricks which will help with your photography and graphic design skills if you’re an amateur or do not have the budget to employ a professional.

Be Consistent

You’ve got the top quality content; now it’s time to share it. Consistency is key on all social platforms, and in particular Instagram, due to the sheer number of businesses and users you’re competing with.

I’d always advise having a social schedule in place to ensure your content is consistent and the more content you post will allow you to analyse your posts to discover what your audience really wants to see.

Analyse Your Efforts

Analysing the content that you’re sharing is the key to finding out what works and what doesn’t for your audience. You may notice a pattern; whether that’s the time of day you share content, the day of the week, the style of posts or the length of the caption, keeping track will ensure you’re making the most of your account and giving the audience what they want!

Think About Hashtags

Instagram allows those who post to use up to 30 hashtags on each and every one of the photos which are uploaded to the feed. Are you making the best use of your hashtags?

I always advise businesses to conduct hashtag research, figuring out which ones work for you individually. Look at the number of posts under the hashtag, if there are too many, you may not cut above the noise, so we’d advise searching for hashtags which feature a range of different numbers of posts. It’s key to be niche here and only use hashtags which correlate to your content and business.

Hashtag

Use Stories

500 million Instagram users watch Instagram Stories every day, and nowadays, consumers are interacting with stories more than the feed. Appearing at the top of the feed for 24 hours, they won’t be lost in the algorithm, giving the potential to reach more of your audience.

Stories allow you to be more creative rather than focus on the picture-perfect feed, enabling you to post raw content and give your business a personality. Armed with many features which can be utilised; such as polls, challenges, countdowns and questions, when used, you’ll identify what your audience engages with more. You can even ask your audience what content they like and what they’d like to see more of.

Interact With Your Audience

Instagram is a social platform, so it’s vital to be social! Engaging feeds engagement, so the more you interact, the more likely your profile will be seen, and traffic is driven to your profile. The platform is a great way to hold a two-way conversation, and the more you interact, the more likely your profile will be seen.

Over the last ten years, Instagram has come on leaps and bounds and is showing no signs of slowing down, so it’s vital businesses are utilising the platform to grow their business.

I hope that these tips will help you grow on the platform!
